The deliverable “Protocols and links for procedures deducing the necessary links with PF-techniques from farming processes into the value added chain in the production of foods, feed, fibres and fuels with crops” analyses the existing technology for precision farming and based on this information a future outlook for 2020 was carried out. The technologies for precision farming are evaluated with regard to that technologies can supply across the value chain and can provide to the different stakeholders. Precision farming management focuses on strategies that will be handled from a platform with accessible links. The available links are divided into input and output information. The availability of these links will have an enormous impact on farming processes, whereby the integration of these links is necessary. These links, together with their available common protocols between data provider and data acceptor are also evaluated. The general recommended organizational structure for an efficient use of available links is a Trust Centre (TC). The identified and designed information architectures and information flows worked out by WP 3 have to be taken into account in the TC setting up phase.
The value added chains are described along the horizontal and vertical chain management perspective. Farmers need ICT solutions that support farm management together with horizontal and vertical integration technologies, therefore the main chain partners in the production of food, feed, fibre, fuel and crops are described through separate examples.
Traceability from Farm to Fork can only be realized by cooperation with all chain partners and the integration and use of integrated ICT consisting of aerial-images, agro-ICT (for farm/forest management, logistics, environment and risk management, virtual farming), meteorological stations etc. To handle all chain partners it needs a platform and the basic methodology for the data transfer and data storage within all chain partners via TC was evaluated.
